With the amount of heavily processed foods that are presently everywhere in our society, it can be difficult to stick with a clean diet. These processed foods have very little nutritional value and eventually will only leave you overweight with a growing belly. With a little knowledge, you will learn of the foods that you should steer clear of and the ones you should eat daily. Here are ten superfoods that you need to start incorporating into your diet as frequently as you can.

1. Chicken Breasts

I’m not talking about swinging by KFC on a daily basis. These chicken breasts should not be fried. Oven baked chicken breasts are much lower in calories and fat and will leave you feeling full much longer. Chicken breast are protein packed with over 40 grams of protein on average and could leave you with increased muscle mass if you combine it with regular strength training.

2. Water

I know water is a liquid and not technically a food, but too many people don’t drink water through the day. Instead, they opt for soda or other sugary drinks that are packed with carbs and will leave you fat. Water has zero calories and several health benefits, like better skin and increased metabolism. Drink water early and often from morning to night.

3. Eggs

Remember back in the day when people thought eggs gave them high cholesterol and heart attacks? Well, now they no longer think eggs are the culprit. Instead, they are a perfect weight loss food because they are low in calories, high in protein, and have a good amount of the fats you need. So, stock up on eggs at the nearest supermarket or hen house.

4. Green Vegetables

Leafy green vegetables such as spinach, kale, collards, swiss chards and others are not only low in calories but packed with fiber. And fiber leaves us feeling full and is quite the digestive helper. With that being said, these greens are some of the greatest superfoods out there for weight loss.

5. Fatty Fish

Not everyone loves seafood simply because they have tried a couple different types of it and labeled it all as gross. Fish like salmon, trout, and mackerel are especially great superfoods as they are high in protein, low in calories, and contain those good fats that the body needs. Plus, as we discussed earlier, protein leaves you feeling full longer, so you won’t need to snack afterwards.

6. Lean Beef

I’m not saying to stockpile Big Macs and Whoppers anytime soon. That is not conducive to trying to lose weight. Those sandwiches contain about 500 calories or more each. Buy some lean beef at the supermarket instead and make your dinner at home. Lean beef is high in protein and low in fat. Furthermore, when it is lean, there are less bad calories you are consuming. It might cost you a few cents extra for quality lean beef, but you can’t put a price on being fit. Or if you can, a few cents is not going to make or break you.

7. Cans of Tuna

Who doesn’t love a bit of tuna fish now and then? There are professional bodybuilders, fitness enthusiasts, and professional athletes that carry around cans of tuna because they are low calorie and full of protein. Plus, if you can stomach it, just open the lid and eat it by itself or on a couple of crackers. There is about 25 grams of protein in just one can of tuna. If you are interested in weight loss, be certain that the tuna is canned in water instead of oil.

8. Soup

Not everyone loves soup, but with hundreds of varieties, you can probably find one you like. And one of soup’s main ingredients is water, so it definitely has that going for it. Soup will leave you feeling full after just a bowl or two. And the great news is that one bowl of soup only has about 50 calories.

9. Nuts

Need a quick snack to get you through the day? Skip the candy bar and go with nuts. Nuts are high in fat, but they are the good fats, just remember everything is healthy in its right portion size. They also contain protein and fiber. As long as you don’t consume too many, nuts are a good weight loss food.

10. Fruits

I realize there are those that avoid fruits because there are certain ones that are high in carbs, but regardless of that, they are a healthy weight loss food. Unless you are on a carb restricted diet, eat some fruit as it is high in fiber, nutrients, and contain important antioxidants.

Make sure your fridge and pantry are packed with these superfoods and you will find yourself eating less of the overly processed junk. This will dramatically reduce your portion size, and the weight will start falling off of you. Of course, if you include a good exercise routine with it, then it will produce even better weight loss results.
